About
I'm a 24-year-old guy born, raised and currently based in Naperville, Illinois. I just finished up a Master of Science degree at Northwestern University's Medill School, specializing in new media journalism. But my real interest (and experience) lies in designing and developing interactive websites and applications.
Development philosophy
Code is more than structured text interpreted by a compiler or parser.
Code is art, and it should be treated as such.
Well-structured, efficient and beautiful code is more than just a way for the developer to sleep better at night - it's an asset to the client. It's easier to maintain and easier to interpret. Compliance with web standards is, to me, a core part of developing a site: If it can't be validated, it's antiquated. And if it's antiquated, it needs fixing. In web development, a complete separation between content and presentation is not only desirable, it's essential.
Life philosophy
My philosophy of life is simple and summed up perfectly in the words of personal development blogger Steve Pavlina: "Be smart. Be nice. Do what you love. Have fun."
